Holiday lighting questions

What areas do you serve?

We install holiday lights across Hampton Roads, including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton and Newport News.

What is included in your holiday lighting service?

Everything. We design a display for your property, supply the lights, install them, set them on a timer, make free repairs while they are up, take them down by mid January and store them for you until next year.

Do I buy the lights or rent them?

Neither. The lights are included with your installation. After the season we take them down and store them for you, and when you renew the next year you get a 10% renewal discount.

When should I book my holiday light installation?

We take bookings from the end of October until about the second week of December. Booking early in that window gives you the most install dates to choose from.

When do you take the lights down?

By mid January. Our crew removes every strand and clip, then we store your lights until next season.

What light colors do you offer?

Warm white and multicolor. You can use one everywhere or mix them, for example warm white rooflines with multicolor along the flowerbeds.

Are the lights on a timer?

Yes. Every installation is set on a timer, so your lights turn on and off by themselves each night.

What happens if a bulb or strand goes out?

We fix it for free. Repairs and service are included for as long as your lights are installed. Call 757-271-8822 and we will take care of it.

Do you light two-story homes and steep roofs?

Yes. Larger homes and steep roofs may need a lift, which we order for the job and add to the installation fee.

Can you install lights I already own?

No. We only install our own lights, which are included with the installation.

How do you attach the lights?

With clips, so the lights come down cleanly at the end of the season.

How do I pay?

Payment is due in full before installation. We accept cash, check and card.

Do returning customers get a discount?

Yes. Customers who renew get a 10% renewal discount every year.

Do you offer permanent lights?

Yes. We install Govee permanent outdoor lights that stay up all year, and you control them from the Govee app. Call 757-271-8822 to set up a consultation.

Do you install holiday lights for businesses?

Yes. We light storefronts, office buildings, shopping centers, landscaping and even fleet vehicles. Commercial displays draw attention to your business and make it stand out during the season.

Can I see what my house will look like before I book?

Is HCJ Holiday Lighting insured?

Yes. HCJ Holiday Lighting is insured, and our trained crew does all the climbing so you never have to.

How long has HCJ Holiday Lighting been in business?

Since 2023. HCJ Holiday Lighting is a division of HCJ Pool Services, based in Virginia Beach.

How much does holiday light installation cost?

Every home and business is different, so each customer gets a personalized quote based on the property and the design. Most residential projects start at $900, and that includes the lights, design, installation, timer, free repairs while the lights are up, takedown and storage.
